Assessing the Relevance and Reliability of Performance Information
Training Introduction
Background
Performance information is critical for monitoring
government programs, evaluating organizational success, and supporting
evidence-based decision-making. However, for performance information to be
useful, it must be both relevant to the objectives being measured and reliable
in terms of accuracy, consistency, and credibility.
Auditors, evaluators, and performance managers must
be equipped to critically assess performance data to ensure it tells the right
story—and tells it truthfully. This course builds foundational and practical
knowledge for assessing performance information across public or private sector
programs.
Purpose of the Training
To provide professionals with the skills and tools
necessary to evaluate whether performance information is appropriately aligned
with organizational goals (relevance) and whether it can be trusted for
decision-making and accountability (reliability).
Learning Objectives
By the end of this course, participants will be
able to:
- Understand
the key characteristics of relevant and reliable performance information.
- Identify
weaknesses in performance indicators, targets, and reporting systems.
- Assess
the design and application of performance metrics and data sources.
- Apply
techniques for evaluating data accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
- Formulate
practical recommendations to improve the quality of performance
information.
