Responsible Fisheries

Training Introduction
Responsible fisheries are essential for the
conservation of aquatic ecosystems, sustainable use of fishery resources, and
the long-term wellbeing of fishing communities. Unsustainable fishing
practices, habitat degradation, and climate change have placed increasing
pressure on global fish stocks.
The Responsible Fisheries Training Programme
is designed to build awareness and practical understanding of responsible
fishing principles, ecosystem-based management, legal and ethical obligations,
and community participation. The programme aligns with internationally
recognized responsible fisheries principles and promotes stewardship of aquatic
resources.

The objectives of this training programme are to:
