1. Training Introduction
The Disaster Planning and Intervention Programme
is designed to build the knowledge, skills, and capacities of professionals and
institutions involved in disaster risk management, emergency preparedness, and
humanitarian response.
As the frequency and severity of natural and
human-induced disasters continue to rise, effective planning, preparedness, and
intervention are vital for saving lives, reducing economic losses, and ensuring
community resilience.
This training offered by FOTADE Training,
Research and Resource Development Centre provides a holistic approach to
understanding disaster risk reduction (DRR), emergency response coordination,
community-based disaster management, and post-disaster recovery frameworks,
following international best practices and guidelines such as the Sendai
Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction.
2. Training Objectives
The objectives of this programme are to:
- Strengthen
participants’ understanding of disaster risk management concepts and
frameworks.

practical skills in disaster preparedness, mitigation, and emergency
response.

institutional and community capacities for disaster planning and
coordination.
